Polo G is the stage name of the American rapper, songwriter, singer, and record executive Taurus Tremani Bartlett. Polo G rose to fame with his 2021 album ‘Hall of Fame’ and turned into a rising star of the Chicago rapping scene. Polo G was born on January 6 1999 in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago. His earlier sound was fully based on Chicago drill before the rapper developed his own style. According to the rapper, he grew up listening to 2Pac, Lil Wayne, and Gucci mane who all had a huge influence on his choice of becoming a musician.

Bartlett made his way into Lincoln University for a major in broadcasting but ended up not joining when he opted to make a career in music instead. His music career began in 2017 on YouTube with his first song called ‘ODA’. in 2018, Bartlett created a SoundCloud account soon and uploaded a track called ‘Gang with me’ which became an instant hit and gained millions of plays. He went on to release four more songs in quick succession on SoundCloud, all of which did really well in terms of streaming.

Bartlett made his Billboard Hot 100 debut in 2019 when his collaboration with rapper Lil Tjay named ‘Pop Out’ peaked at number 11. He also uploaded a music video to the song on YouTube which has over 285 million views at present. The song and video’s success led to him being signed to Columbia Records label.

In June 2019, Bartlett released his first studio album called ‘Die A Legend’. The album was a hit and went on to reach the 6th position on the Billboard 200. The same year, he released a single named ‘Heartless’.

Bartlett began his 2020 with a collaboration featuring rappers Stunna 4 Vegas and NLE Choppa in February. The song ‘Go Stupid’ became his first single to make its way on the Hot 100. Months later, he came out with his second studio album The Goat with which he continued his streak of success. The album quickly climbed the charts and debuted with the second position on Billboard 200. 10 songs from this album were featured on the Top 100 as well. The album also featured his friend and rapper Juice WRLD who passed away in 2020. Bartlett was one of the rappers featured on Juice WRLD’s posthumous album Legends Never Die in the song ‘Hate the other Side’. Later that year, in October, he received a feature on King Von’s debut album in the song ‘The Code’

In 2020, Bartlett also announced the creation of his own label. He named Only Dreamers Achieve (ODA), a throwback to his first-ever song of the same name.

Bartlett’s biggest hit to date remains his third studio album ‘Hall of Fame’. Released in June 2021, the album went on to top the US Billboard 200 and became his first album to reach the milestone. In December, he released an extended Deluxe version of the album called ‘Hall of Fame 2.0” which featured 14 new unreleased songs.

Bartlett has two sisters and a younger brother Taurean, who is a professional rapper himself and goes by the name Trench baby. Bartlett is currently managed by his mother Stacia Mac. He is unmarried but has a son with his girlfriend Crystal Blease, who is a TikTok influencer.
