The same year she auditioned for a spot on The Voice’s 3rd season. After clearing all the preliminary rounds, she was finally selected for the televised audition where she covered Toxic by Britney Spears, one of her idols. She won the approval of three judges and decided to be coached by Adam Levine. Melanie made it beyond 4 weeks before getting eliminated in the 5th.

She released her first original track in 2014, titled “Dollhouse”. She then created a fundraiser on Indiegogo to help gather funds for a music video for the song. The campaign was a success and the video was released. The video has over 337 million views on YouTube today. Later that year, Melanie signed her first professional contract with Atlantic Records. She released her debut full-length album Cry Baby in 2015 after successfully releasing two singles from it. The album received critical acclaim and debuted at 6th position on the charts. The album went on to receive a platinum certification from the RIAA.

After the success of the album, Melanie launched a fragrance of her own called Cry Baby Perfume Milk which was distributed by Atlantic Records.

Her second studio album came out in 2017 and was titled K-12. Melanie also wrote and directed an hour-long film of the same name to accompany the album. She also acted in the role of the main character called Cry Baby. the film has over 95 million views on YouTube.

Her most recent release was 2020’s extended play After School. Melanie made an announcement regarding a third studio album and confirmed it was going to have 13 tracks in 2021. The album was dubbed as MM3 by her fans, referring to it being her 3rd album.
